There are many tools available to enhance your meditation sessions and further deepen levels of conciousness. Some of these, such as mala beads can be used anywhere at anytime and do no restrict the practice of meditation to any one place.

It is important that you are as comfortable as possible during your sessions and thus placing less strain on your body. We can achieve this by using a meditation stool for kneeling or a zafu for sitting and ensure that the base of your spine is well supported and that your body is upright and your back is straight. The equipment you use is dependent on your physical ability to sit or kneel to allow you to meditate effectively and it is imperative to make an informed choice before your purchase.

Zafu
The western translation of zafu is sitting (za) cushion (fu). Typically, zafu are bewteen 12 and 15 inches in diameter and 8 inches in depth and filled with kapok or buckwheat.

Meditation Stool
Meditation stools are used by practitioners that prefer the seiza position. Used with a cushion they are comfortable and promote good meditative posture.
